Sonatori

Music of the XVII & XVIII century on original instruments

Although you can take delight in listening to their recordings, you must see their performances in person in order to appreciate the intensity, the attention offered one another and the delicate phrasing that transform their art into a reality almost tactile in its beauty. (L. Arruga) Panorama 1997
La phalange vénitienne d'instruments anciens des Sonatori a révolutionné la discographie vivaldienne. (D. Morrier) DIAPASON 1999
The Sonatori do not show off, they speak quite simply, but a language of perfect rethoric. (S.Rougol) GOLDBERG) 1999
Alles klingt souverän und absolut logisch. Spannung von Alpha bis Omega. (R. Strobl) Alte Musik Aktuell 2000

Founded in Treviso (a city in the Veneto region known during the Renaissance as “Marca Gioiosa”), the Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca have become one of the most famous groups in Italy, for almost twenty years playing ancient music on period instruments. A string ensemble that can be expanded into a small orchestra, the Sonatori feature a repertoire that ranges from the late 16th century to Classicism, with particular dedication to traditional music of the Veneto.
